Job Description

Our CETUS division is seeking a talented electro-mechanical technician (Marine Technician) with experience with and enthusiasm for marine research and development.  The ideal candidate will have substantial on-water marine experience and also be familiar with general fabrication assembly, electrical system and integration assembly. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to function in a marine environment and to disassemble, modify, reassemble and test mechanical and/or electrical systems onsite at testing facilities.

Desired Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; 2 year technical degree a plus
  • 3-5 years of experience with complex mechanical and electrical systems
  • Must have maritime experience (Captain, Able Body Seaman, or Deckhand license preferred)
  • Must be competent at performing mechanical assembly and maintenance tasks
  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time, lift 50lbs unassisted, work at sea for long periods of time
  • Must communicate clearly with good interpersonal skills as will be often working for prolonged periods of time with others in tight quarters.
  • Must be able to interpret engineering drawings and be comfortable with communicating with engineers on a daily basis
  • Must be comfortable taking direction from others
  • Diesel engine operation and maintenance experience preferred
  • Experience operating and maintaining heavy equipment highly desirable (hydraulic and pneumatic systems)
  • Fabrication experience, specifically welding and/or machining, highly desirable
  • Basic knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems preferred
  • Competent in general PC based tasks (word processing/report writing, spreadsheet data entry, internet searching, etc…)
  • Able to be on travel up to 2 months at a time (travel immediately upon hire is likely and routine travel thereafter should be expected
  • US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED; Security clearance preferred, must be eligible for clearance and eligible for Transportation Worker Identification Credentials

 

Position Location: San Diego, CA with periods of training on-site at R&D center in Sterling, VA
